The big Besshatyr mound is located in the Kerbulak district, Almaty region, 65 kilometers North of the village of Basshi, on the right Bank of the Ili river, at the entrance to the Shilbyr gorge. The beshatyr burial mound dates back to the VII-IV century BC. the Burial mound consists of 5 mounds and 86 fences of sub-rectangular and oval shape with menhirs facing the large mound. The mound diameters are up to 104 meters.The distance between the mounds is up to 350 meters. The mounds are made of earth and stones. Mounds of mounds are flat, swollen, and blackened. The beshatyr mounds (Five tents) date back to the early iron age (VII-VI centuries BC), and they are the largest Saka burials. Located in the Altyn-Yemelsky national Park, on the foothill stony plain between the Chulaktau mountains and the Kapchagai reservoir. The beshatyr necropolis (Five tents) is considered the spiritual Mecca of the ancient Saks who lived in the first Millennium BC on the territory of present-day Kazakhstan. The most famous of them is the Besshatyrsky burial ground, which has 31 mounds.
