It is one of the oldest theaters in the country. The theater is named after the famous Kazakh director, playwright, one of the founders of Kazakh professional dramatic art Zhumat Shanin. In 2014 the theater moved to a new three-story building, designed in a combination of classical and modern style, its main facade is decorated with four columns. The area around the building was transformed into a theater square, now it is a popular place for cultural entertainment.

The theater building is designed for 500 seats, it meets all international requirements and well equipped. The height of the stage is 30 meters. The theater's repertoire includes 42 performances, ten of which are designed for children and teenagers.
