Shymkent is one of the oldest cities with a rich culture and more than 2,200 years of history. In terms of area and population, the Republic ranks third, with an area of 117 thousand hectares and a population of more than a million people. Internal division of 4 districts: Abay, al-Farabi, Enbekshi and Karatau.

By the decree of the first President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy Nursultan Abishuly Nazarbayev dated June 19, 2018, Shymkent was granted the status of a city of national significance.

A city that set a record for the longest street in the country. There are more than 2000 streets in the city, many of which are named after Kazakh heroes, cultural figures and scientists. The total length of the streets exceeds 2000 kilometers.

There are small and large rivers, such as Koshkar-ata, Sayramsu, Karasu and Badam. The height of sea level is 506 meters, but its location is very comfortable, the citizens are not affected by the wind. The climate there is continental with long summers, short winters and frequent thaws. The average temperature in winter time is -5-10 degrees. Sometimes there are freezing temperatures in 20-25, but this happens rarely. The city is really beautiful in the spring and autumn time. Blooming spring and warm autumn usually last for a long time. The temperature at these times of the year is within 20 degrees. Summer is quite hot. The average temperature is between +35 and +45 degrees.

It is on the Greay Silk Road, and it has witnessed many historical events.

Today the beautiful city of Shymkent is the largest industrial, trade and cultural center of Kazakhstan. There are many opportunities to open and develop general business in the city. There is, however, more work to be done in so many different aspects. In other words, the city will become a center of investments, science and education in the near future.

Guests visit the new administrative and business center, Independence Park, area of state symbols, «Ordabasy» square, «Victory» park, the memorial «Dank», the Museum hall of Victims of Political Repression, «Nauryz» square, «Baydibek bi» complex, regional historical museum which is the center of traditions and customs, regional Kazakh and Russian theaters, the Opera and Ballet Hall, House of Humor and Satire and a lot of other items of interest. The guests enjoy the view and appreciate the change of the city and have a delightful rest.

Another favorite place for having a rest is the park named after Abay, where it is pleasant to walk with your family and friends. Over the past seven or eight years a lot of new facilities were built. «South Circus» was built in the territory of the park.

Shymkent is always remembered by guests with its hospitality and oppeness. Anyone who has tasted Shymkent’s shashlik at least once will never forget its unique taste. People repute meals in Shymkent made of fish caught in Shardary, Koksaray, Bugun reservoirs, kazy-carta, mants and dumplings, rice and kuyrdak flatteringly.

Shymkent attracts great interest not only from quests of the South region, but also from the neighboring regions such as Zhambyl, Kyzylorda, Almaty region and Nur-Sultan. For example, people from Kyzylorda come on holiday, taking the train «Kyzylorda-Kokshetau». There are a lot of guests especially on the weekends. People come to Shymkent with their families, friends, business partners and colleagues as well. Newly married couples drive around the city and enjoy the local sightseeing attractions.
